Hair tickled Lucifer’s skin, pulling him out of sleep with a quiet laugh.
Opening his eyes, Lilith hovered above him, the morning light shining through the window bathing her in warm red. Her hair was messy from sleep, and Lucifer felt his face grow hot at the sight of the bitemark at the crook of her neck.
“Good morning,” she whispered, voice soft. “Husband.”
Lucifer felt happiness bubble up inside of him at the last word. ‘Husband’ .
They’d gotten married just a few days ago, finally. After everything that had happened; getting thrown out of Heaven and forced to start anew somewhere that was so drastically different, it felt like a light in a world that had felt so bleak. It still felt surreal to be able to call each other husband and wife.
“Good morning, wife,” he whispered back, a smile that he had no doubt looked goofy on his face. He pushed a lock of hair behind her ear. “I love you.”
“I love you too.” She chuckled, leaning down, pressing her lips to his sternum. Inch by inch, she kissed her way higher, up his chest, scarred from the fall. Her lips traced his collarbones, making him unable to lie still, his tail wagging underneath the blankets.
He buried his hands in her long hair as she kissed up his neck, fingers curling into the hair at the nape of her neck.
Finally, she reached his lips, and he melted into the touch of her soft lips against his. His tail shivered, wrapping around Lilith’s thigh. She pulled back, his eyes fluttered back open.
When she smiled down at him, eyes filled to the brim with affection, he couldn’t imagine loving anyone else this deeply. He felt so warm inside, as if set ablaze by the mere touch of her fingers, her lips, the graze of her hair against his skin.
He never wanted this feeling to end.
